Working with my new high focus lens
I am highly delighted with the new Olympus 12-100 f4.0 PRO lens. It's amazingly sharp throughout the range, even at 12mm and 100mm.
I take a lot of Steam Locomotives and find the traditional 24-70 and 70-200 lenses which I used on my Nikon D800 and previously on my D300 to be either too short when the locomotive is far away or too long when the locomotive comes close. I previously tried a Nikon 24-120 but, the one I had was not good enough. The advantage with the Nikon D800 with it's 36mp sensor was that even a heavy crop still gave me a high spec mp image printable to 2 foot by 3 foot.
Now this has all changed with the Olympus 12-100 f4.0 PRO lens on the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mkii. The camera has super fast focus makes an ideal camera with the range and performance of this lens.
This combination is not only perfect for my Steam Photography but also for a general walkabout and travel lens. See my photos of the Lumsdale waterfalls which were taken with this combination.
