Another Few Days in London
Last week we spent another few days in London. We were based near Tower Bridge at the The Lalit London. Excellent Hotel in easy walking distance of London Bridge Station, 9 minutes from Kings Cross Station by Tube. Super Service and excellent restaurant food.
The Tower Bridge was within a few minutes walk.
We had a walk down the Embankment eastwards.
We dined in the hotel's restaurant that evening. excellent food and attentive service.
On the next day we went on the "mbna thames clippers" down to Greenwich and went on the Emirates Air Line across the Thames. We also visited the Emirates Experience on the same site.
Actually we used the "mbna thames clippers" as our main travel having prebooked a day's ticket. Well worth it and a great way to see London.
We returned to London Bridge, via Westminster, on the "mbna thames clippers" and went to the Borough Market. Bought some cheese and had some delicious Pasta. Extremely busy and bustling, found a quiet corner and, after a long wait, found an interval to take one photo.
That evening we went to the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre for a Concert by Karl Jenkins. The pieces were "The Armed Man" and the first performance of the "Symphonic Adiemus"
Took the opportunity to stand on the balcony overlooking the Thames and took this panorama below. [Please go to "Nature Landscapes" tab and there you can click for a larger view].
Back to the hotel on the "mbna thames clippers". Very quiet.
Would highly recommend the "mbna thames clippers".
On the last day we visited the Tower Bridge Experience which is very cheap and well worth doing. You go up the North Tower in a lift, walk across the upper walkway to the South Tower. You can walk on the other walkway which faces the centre of London.
Both walkways have glass floor sections so you can see down to the road and river.
The Tower Bridge Experience concludes with a visit to the Engine Room.
Back to Kings Cross, unfortunately a longer way round by Tube as the Northern Line was closed due to engineering work, so went via Green Park.
Back home on the Grand Central. Excellent as usual.
Many thanks if you've got this far
